Finally, I am back with a beauty post for you all. I have been so excited for this one, as I have been trying out so many new foundations lately. Some are new releases and some are just old favourites, but all of them are in this blog post for a reason.
I think foundations is definitely something I get asked about most frequently. I always love a very flawless base and because I have suffered on and off with acne, I need a foundation that is going to give me good coverage, last all day and not look too heavy or cakey on the skin. When you get your foundation right, the rest of your makeup application is made easier too.
So here are my current faves, and why I love them –
- NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
This one has been one go my go to foundations for quite some time now, so it just had to be included. I use this in most of my makeup masterclasses and it always photographs so beautifully. One thing I have to say about this one is not to let the name fool you. Yes, its called Sheer Glow but in my opinion it is far from sheer. It has a medium, buildable coverage and I find it works great at covering any acne scarring I have. I wear shade Stromboli or Barcelona on days when I am wearing false tan, which is most days to be honest. This is a water based foundation so it doesn’t leave any excess oils on the skin. It has a slight glow off it but is not really a dewy finish foundation, so I like to mix it with MAC Strobe Cream to add extra radiance. Get it HERE
2. Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation
This foundation is a new favourite of mine. I have had press samples of this in my collection since it was released, but I only began to use it when my skin broke out very badly. I need extra coverage for events and blog shoots and this one really stepped up to the mark. Its is a liquid, waterproof, long wearing, oil free foundation. It gives a very full coverage, matte finish to the skin. I would stay away from this if you have dry skin, as it is best suited to an oiler complexion. It is quite thick when it comes out from the bottle but is very easy to blend and sets almost instantly, needing no powder setting. If you have oily, problem skin or just want a full coverage matte finish foundation that will not budge all day long, then this one is for you. I wear either 3.25 or 4.0, depending on my tan. 3. Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation
If you are a long term follower then you will have heard me harp on about the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foudantion, and yes, its still one of my faves. However, recently Armani launched a new product to their line, the Power Fabric foundation. This one had a higher coverage than the Luminous Silk, and was not as dewy on the skin which I loved. Again, I began using this when my skin was problematic, so it gave me the extra coverage I needed, without looking too heavy or dry on the skin. It does need a little powder on the T zone if you’re oily in those areas. I wear shade 4.5. Get it HERE
4. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
On the hunt for the perfect daytime, affordable foundation? Look no further than this one. I have been using this during the day for a few weeks and it gives a gorgeous, light to medium coverage to the skin. It is long wearing and easy to apply/blend. I find I do need a setting powder with this one in order for it to really have the extra staying power. It is enriched with vitamins C, B and E so your skin is being nourished throughout the day. I must have for makeup lovers. I wear shade 54/beige. Get it HERE
5. L’Oreal True Match Foundation
The holy grail of affordable foundations is right here. I can honestly say that this foundation rivals some of my high end ones. There is a huge shade range to suit most skin tones. It has a beautiful silky texture and gives a great medium coverage. It leaves a satin, radiant finish to the skin. Again, I like to set my oily areas with a powder. It has great staying power and does not cling to any dry patches or breakouts. If you try one foundation this week, let it be this affordable little gem. I wear shade Golden Beige D3/W3. Get it HERE
So there you have it…a rundown of my top 5 foundations that I keep reaching for again and again.
Let me know your faves too!
Lots of Love,
